What does Make America Great Again really mean? America has done some great things but we are a nation founded on the backs of slaves & genocide of peoples whose land we stole. Not so great.
As a “love thy brother & sister as thyself” pacifist, MAGA may mean something slightly different to me than it means to many a MAGA hat wearer. But we have things in common. We all want to be free to live our lives as we see fit & most of us don’t trust the government. How could we? Sure, there are some good people in offices who care about their constituents but as a body, it has shown it would rather serve its corporate donors than its electors.
This is my premise. We all want something to believe in. If a person wants to believe in MAGA, I believe that by simply removing the tail of the G, we turn it into MACA! Make America Conscious Already! Then we can find common ground based on documented history as it was, not just on what we’re told to believe.
George Orwell said, “Who controls the present controls the past. Who controls the past controls the future.” Howard Zinn added, “…history is incredibly important in shaping the next generation of people.” Not to mention the next 7 generations.
This is why those in power do their best to dole out only the history most likely to keep us blind enough to serve their interests in maintaining power.
I believe in POWER TO THE PEOPLE! And INFORMATION IS POWER! So I’m trying to do my little part to bring people together by helping us find common ground by starting the MACA MOVEMENT!
It is my hope to shed a little light on inequities of the past & present through the slogans on my MACA hats, shirts, cups, etc, that they will spawn conversations to engender harmony between diverse groups who can see this simple truth: WE MUST LIVE & WORK TOGETHER OR WE WILL PERISH TOGETHER!
So let’s take this present moment to shine some light on the past and make a better future.
